Girls in Sydney

Australian girls are friendly. The fair skinned, blonde usually comes to most people’s mind when they think of Australia; however, it is a little more diverse than what most people think. It has become a focal point of immigration for most of the troubled Asian regions, so too for professionals from the more developed nations of Africa. Australian girls are known for their sun-kissed skin, beautiful looks and sparkling personalities. In essence, they are pretty hot!

RatingLooks Looks of girls: 4.5 / 5

Australian girls are generally quite good looking. This is accentuated with an outdoor lifestyle, which incentivizes people to remain in shape for the beach or other outdoor activities. It is not uncommon for people to have pool parties in the summer accompanied by a barbeque. The Caucasian girls are generally sporty; you do get more native-looking girls. They are darker in complexion (tanned) and they have curvier figures. The lighter girls are also gorgeous, but there are a few who eat too much fast food. Asian girls are found here and there – a few mixes between Asian and Caucasian are also present.

RatingAttitude Attitude of girls: 4 / 5

While you may struggle with girls from any region, as attitudes and levels of respect range in any country, Australians are known for their friendly (if not slightly crazy) natures. If you approach a girl for help or a simple conversation, the exchange is likely to be easy going and fun. Moreover, there is a strong focus on family and community.

How to Pick Up Girls

Sydney is a picturesque city with plenty of outdoor options available. There are loads of girls around - whether at the beach, the mall or in restaurants, bars or clubs. The real catalyst is how you are able to engage with girls on a conversational level. As English is the native language, simple compliments don't work. The conversation has to flow deeper. Moreover, it needs to be sustained for at least two or three dates per girl in order to achieve a hookup.

Being strategic about your approach is the best way to get laid as quickly as possible. There are two main streams of the pickup. The first is to use the natural resources around you to lead to an introduction. Thus, trips to the beach, the mall and even the local gym is an opportunity to meet girls. All it takes is an introduction and the ability to keep talking. Once you find a girl, simply walk up to her and say hello. You can ask for her number or tell her that she’s gorgeous. Pick something specific: eyes, hair, face. Avoid mentioning anything below the neck, as it can come off as creepy. You can choose to continue the conversation by explaining that you are a tourist and you are looking for things to do. Find out about what she enjoys. The best way to keep the conversation going is with questions. Ask her out for a date or get the number and do it at a later stage.

The second approach is online. Turn to the Online Dating section for more information regarding which platforms to use. With the city adopting a modern approach, the internet is a valuable space, especially when you are looking for as many hookups as possible. The best advice is to take your virtual connections and turn them into physical dates as soon as possible. As for the girls whom you don’t date immediately, try and make regular contact with them via messaging services. You can either choose to date them in the future or keep them in the friendzone. Both have benefits. Girls in the friendzone act as links to other girls, increasing your long-term hookup yields. However, this must be weighed up with the immediate benefit of getting laid quickly.

The art of having sex is purely based on the conversation. Once there is a physical spark, it is not difficult to transform that into something more. Australian girls are, generally speaking, very open and friendly; thus, you will hardly get rejected or rudely treated if you are polite and take a genuine interest in the girl. As stated before, the tourist card is a big one. Use it to your advantage.

RatingPickup Chance of picking up: 4 / 5

There are lots of girls - really good-looking girls in Sydney. Thus, your chances of hooking up are immediately good as a foreigner. Other strains of English accents are considered quite sexy by the local "sheilas"; so too are exotic languages such as Spanish, Italian and Russian. However, the biggest factor lies in the talking game. Girls love the whole confident approach. Throw in a bit of banter and the occasional sexual innuendo once you sense the attraction is mutual and you can almost bank on things getting more heated.

Tips for Daytime

RatingDaytime Chance of picking up at daytime: 4.5 / 5

Walking up to a girl and starting a conversation can be challenging in any foreign country. During the daytime, the girls in Sydney invest their time and energies into their educational and professional lives. The city has many reputable institutes where students from all over the world come to study. While this gives you the advantage of meeting girls with different backgrounds and looks, you will have to approach them during a specific time, such as college break or off time, to get to know them.

Most of the female population prioritizes success and heights in their professional lives. The girls are most likely packed in the offices or traveling to meetings during the daytime. You can wait until rush hour where they will leave their place of work. There is an increase in traffic in restaurants, cafes, and bars. It is highly likely you will meet a single girl there who wants to spend time with someone willing to have a good time.

Tips for Nighttime

RatingNighttime Chance of hooking up at nighttime: 3.5 / 5

Sydney has lots of pretty girls, and Australian girls usually have that exotic, wild factor about them. Add a bit of alcohol and music to the mix and you are almost guaranteed a hookup if you can manage to strike up a few conversations. As always, the best chances are with people you know beforehand, but you could still meet a few really stunning girls at the club. Convincing them to go home with you is a different story.

Most of the clubs are casual, as the ocean themes demand a more relaxed approach. However, the more premium venues usually require a collared shirt and a bit of work before you leave the house. Also, you never want to appear too ragged. At least wear sneakers and a well-fitted T-shirt.

Best Nightclubs to Meet Girls

The Harbour area is the best place to find a fun night out. There are a few clubs and bars which make the night worthwhile – despite its abrupt ending at 1: 30 am. There is still plenty of opportunity after the sun sets, so switch from beach mode and put on your best attire for the city’s best night clubs. As there is a curfew, only a select few clubs actually make the time worthwhile. They are listed below:

  • The World Bar – one of the more faithfully-attended clubs in the city. The World Bar is home to four different bars, thumping music and a variety of people – from expats to students and young locals. The atmosphere is always electric, as the four-storey club has something for everyone. The cozy balconies are a great, intimate location to take conversation to should things get romantic.
  • Marquee – The only club that is open beyond the curfew. Marquee is shelled inside of Sydney’s main casino. It has a luxury air about it and is often host to a few events throughout the year. It is a great place to visit, and an even better place to meet gorgeous women. Names such as Hardwell, Armin Van Buuren and more have given this club their stamp of approval.
  • Club 77 – Picture a cozy underground bar with a few retro touches and the constant rhythm of techno reverberating throughout the vicinity. Open for over 22 years, Club 77 has amassed a loyal following of locals – a must for anyone into really Australian girls and alternative dance music.
  • Ivy – One of the best day and night clubs within the city. There are 8 clubs within the premises, something which resembles more of a country club with DJs than anything else. The main club is poolside, as people come from far and wide to catch a tan and party to world-renowned artists.
  • Soda Factory – Surry Hills is home to one of the mainstays of the Sydney clubbing industry. Attended faithfully for years, Soda Factory’s unique American Diner style, affordable cocktails and bustling rhythms attracts students from all over the city and surrounds.
  • The Junction – Inside one of New South Wale’s biggest shopping districts is one of the best dance clubs in the state. Added to this, the junction falls just outside of the lockdown area, which means you can dance away until early hours of the morning. The geography makes the area particularly exciting, as it is halfway between the city centre and the famous Bondi Beach. You can plan an entire day or pickup a girl on the beach and enjoy a night out together.
  • Home The Venue – The city’s best superclub – and it does not disappoint. Besides a rotation of exceptional DJs, the club also has nine bars, a world class sound system and a spectacular view of Darling Harbour. There are loads of partygoers at this venue, and you may even be able to hookup with more than one girl if you play your cards right.
  • Oxford Art Factory – This is an alternative venue, but a busy one, nonetheless. The club invites many international and local artists to its 500-plus-capacity venue. There is usually a crowd, and the club is conducive to many conversations with a variety of people. The drinks are reasonable priced, and the people are usually more than friendly. All round, it is a great place.
RatingLooks Nightlife in general: 2.75 / 5

Unfortunately, the night life in Sydney is not the best. A better way to put it is to describe the clubbing scene as restricted. The New South Wales government placed a curfew on all night clubs and bars; thus, all of the fun ends at 1:30 am. While you may think this is not much of a factor, it does slow down the growth of the industry substantially. Compared to other cities of similar size, Sydney doesn’t come close to the enjoyment on offer. The main saving grace is the amount of people who live in the metropolis, which means that if you pick the right venue, you can still have a great night out.

Alternatively, you could also visit a local bar and find plenty of interesting people to spend the evening with. Whether you are a hard partyer or a chilled, conversational drinker, Sydney has you covered. Often, the best thing to do is to forge a network of people who know the city. University areas are a great way to connect with like-minded partyers (if that is your thing). Once you have obtained enough contacts, finding the best locations is as easy as a text message. The same rule applies for bars. There is a long list of local drinking holes; each of these varies in popularity and the number of girls who frequent the location.

Mature Ladies and Cougars

The culture enjoys certain economic advantages which allows women to achieve independence from their husbands. Thus, there are a few women who get divorced or those who favour their careers over settling down. These women are often keen on hooking up with younger expats. They come with lots of experience and they do know how to have a good time. If you are looking for an older woman, dating apps are the best way to go, as the filters allow you to connect with a few at once. Moreover, bars sometimes have older ladies, basically an invitation to get laid.

Online Dating

If you are looking to make an impact in the short-term dating scene, the wonders of the online platforms will directly affect your rate of success. In fact, it is probably the most important aspect when you are looking to pickup girls in Sydney. While there is a certain satisfaction to be had form the good, old chatting up a cute girl at the bar, nothing beats the internet in scope and its ability to connect.

Before we get to all of the good bits of Australian online dating - and there are many - there must first be a discussion concerning all of the negative aspects which need to be addressed or at least observed. Firstly, there are a few ladyboys on these apps. This is fuelled by two sources: the influx of Asian immigrants from regions such as Thailand and Indonesia, and the increased acceptance of the LGBT community. The latter is easy to spot, as surgeries are rarely successful on more western features, so it is easy to tell a transgender apart from a normal woman. The former is slightly more difficult, as it Asian men usually have softer features. With that being said, trannies probably only make up 1% of all users on dating sites.

You will also have to consider the amount of messages the average girl gets every day. It is fairly easy to get lost in all of the spam, so be smart with your connections. Make your messages punchy and catchy. Be sure to include a profile that is different. Use your differences wisely. For example, if you can speak a different language, your nationality or skills that are unique.

Now that all of the formalities are out of the way, here is a list of the best online dating platforms to use in Sydney:

  • Tinder - By far the most popular dating app in Australia. Tinder is a diverse platform which leverages on a broad database in order to connect people who are mostly interested in a quick hook-up or two. The main allure of the platform is its popularity, but the competition does mean you have to keep your game quite high.
  • Bumble - One of the more popular applications, Bumble allows users to access a large database of girls. However, there is a catch: male users must wait on their female counterparts to initiate the conversation. Many girls enjoy this, as they feel more protected from being harassed by crude messages and dick pics, so make your profile interesting and allow her to do all of the work.
  • Happn - Have you ever been in a situation where you see a really pretty girl in the street, but the busyness of the day requires you to keep moving. Before long, your attention is elsewhere and you are left wondering if she is the one that got away. The creators of Happn tried to solve this problem with a platform that allows you to connect with people whose paths you have crossed.
  • Instagram - One of the social media giants also doubles as a great way to meet girls. Unlike Facebook or Twitter, Instagram allows you to gather a fairly accurate representation of a person's looks, personality and everyday activities. The DM section can get quite intimate, so picking up girls in another country is a more than viable option.
  • Coffee meets Bagel - A new dating app which is being coined by students all over the country. It is a great way to find a potential date, but there is a downside found in the few matches per day. THE idea is fantastic, but it does not compare to the volume of OkCupid or Tinder.
  • OkCupid - Users enter the platform and start with a series of questions. Matches are found based on the answers. It has a wide user base the biggest attraction) so you should meet loads of girls in no time. OkCupid also has plenty of foreigners and expats on the platform, so it is a great international tool much like Tinder.

What Kind of Guys Have the Best Chances

Generally, an interesting guy who comes across as different, well-mannered and able to handle a conversation stands the best chances of hooking up. While physical features do help, the single most important factor is to have the confidence to approach girls - even after getting rejected a few times.

With that being said, Caucasians generally do well in Sydney. The surfer guy type is considered a mainstream attraction as well, as much of the recreational time spent in the city is at the beach or around nature. Thus, having a muscular physique is a huge bonus and gets you many from the local girls; however, you still have to put in the hard yards of initiating the conversation and keeping the banter fresh. As English is the mother tongue, this is fairly easy for other native English speakers.

Hispanic men, depending on the region of origin, also have lots of potential in Australia. The Spanish and Portuguese culture often comes with a lot of passion and confidence; the accent is also considered attractive. By mixing the two together, Hispanic men have a unique advantage. However, there are a few cultural barriers to traverse, but the experience should be good.

Surprisingly, there is quite a large Asian community within Australia. Some of these are first generation immigrants, but there are quite a few second, third and fourth generation immigrants as well, who are naturally acclimatized to the Australian culture. Therefore, Asians also stand a good chance, particularly western Asians who have grown up in a similar culture - such as the USA or Europe. This is simply because of the English factor.

African men also have a place within the Australian female game; however, it is more as an exotic variety than a mainstream choice. There are many Africans - especially from regions such as South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana who immigrate to Australia due to better career opportunities and quality of life. Thus, there are a few African girls as well. Again, the principle of confidence and the ability to engage in conversation and humour is key.

In order of best to worst chances of finding a hook-up - all else being equal - the following list provides a scale which should make things clearer:

Caucasian - Hispanic - Hispanic - Black - Asian - Arab - Indian

Risks while Gaming

There isn't much risk. Most of the crime that occurs in Sydney is opportunistic and it is done by petty thieves seeking to take advantage of unsuspecting or naïve tourists. As far as hook-ups and sex go, stick to the basic rules. Ensure that you use protection. Always have more than one condom on your person at all times, as preparation is the number one way to avoid any future drama such as STDs and unwanted pregnancy. Beware of girls who avoid protection, as they may have ulterior motives.

Fights are infrequent, and there is usually a drunk guy who looks to throw his weight around. However, the security in bars and clubs is sufficient. If anyone does try anything violent, they are thrown out immediately. If you do aggravate a boyfriend, however, be prepared for a fight.

How to Get Laid as Soon as Possible

The best way to get laid in a thriving metropolis will be internet platforms. These offer the convenience of scrolling or swiping (depending on your platform) through hundreds of girls with the hope of making potential matches. For more detailed information on which platforms to use, see the Online Dating section. Once you select your app or site of choice, use it to your advantage. It is important to transform your virtual matches into real-life dates as soon as possible. There are lots of things to do, but hold up on the activities until you are sure there's a connection, a spark. The best place to start is with a simple coffee date. Keep the banter levels on a high. If you feel that there is potential for something more, take the date to the coast, grab a few drunks and maybe see a romantic sunset. After drinks, you may be able to ask a girl back to your place; however, this is often difficult after just one date. It may take two or three dates before you can actually have sex.

Another method, which is the day game approach, is to use the beach to your advantage. Most of the city heads to the beach during the weekend and on public/bank holidays - especially when the weather is warm. It is something of a festive time, and many of the girls are on the lookout just as much as you are. A well-sculpted beach body will definitely get you extra points and make approaching girls fairly easy. Add a foreign accent onto a muscular physique and you have a one way ticket to her bedroom! The most important thing is to put yourself out there: talk to girls. If you are afraid of rejection, it is unlikely that you will get very far. The Australian girl is attracted to confidence, and the more you show, the better it is for you. Go from the beach to grabbing a few drinks at a restaurant or simply going back to her or your place for a chilled, spontaneous date. If she is more reluctant, try grabbing her number and the organizing a less spontaneous outing for another time.

Lastly, clubs are also a useful place to try gaming. There are plenty of girls, lots of alcoholic beverages and thumping music which puts anyone in a celebratory mood. Despite all of these factors, it is still not as easy as you may think. Australians are always down for a good time, but the religious roots of the country often makes girls think twice about going home with random men. Thus, even is the girl herself is keen, her friends will probably intervene. The most you are likely to get is making out and a heated exchange somewhere in the corner. For the best effect, try getting the girl's number and arranging a meet up in the next few days. Your chances of getting laid automatically increase, but only if you are willing to wait a week or so.

Gold Diggers and Sugar Babies

Sydney is full of hot girls looking for a mutually beneficial hookup with travellers. There are lots of girls who don’t charge by the hour but who will do anything for a guy who is willing to help them pay their bills. If you are looking for a more personal and less transactional alternative to escorts, a good place to find these sexy open-minded girls in Sydney is SecretBenefits.

Swinger Clubs and Naturism

Australians are surprisingly liberal with their nudity. While the act may not be considered decent in the mainstream public, it does have a place among the fringes of the people. Thus, there are many nudist beaches and a few strip clubs in addition.

The best nudist beaches to visit are usually secluded. However, they are easily found with the help of a local and a Google Maps search. Try:

  • Cobbler's Beach - Known for Skinny dipping and gorgeous waters.
  • Lady Jane Beach - A coastal beauty with many nooks and crannies. It features gorgeous turquoise waters and an exceptional shoreline!
  • Obelisk Beach - If a more tranquil location is your thing, this beach is a little slice of paradise.
Obelisk Beach
  • Werrong Beach - Although this beach requires a long walk in order to reach its secluded shores, it is famed in the world of naturists all over the country. It may be one of Australia's best nudist gems.

Strip clubs and Swinger clubs are also available in the city. However, when it comes to the latter, there are only three clubs to visit. The best of the swinging scene is always hidden behind private doors, so getting to know people is possibly your best bet for the future. For the best swinger clubs, try:

  • The Couples Clubs
  • Sin City Swingers
  • Our Secret Spot

Costs of Living

CostsDay Single traveler’s budget per day: US$60 - $700

The average cost per day is around $140, but you could get away with a lot less if you plan ahead. There are a few budget options in Sydney, but there are also a few things within the standard shopping basket that pushes the cost of living up quite a bit. Food and drinks are two items which cause a bit of a hole in the wallet. A coke, for example, can cost as much as $6 in some areas. As for accommodation, you can get luxury for $300 quite easily; a 4-star hotel is as cheap as $150 per night. On the lower end of the scale, you will probably need at least $60 per day to survive. $700 per day gets you a really good time.

CostsAccommodation Accommodation per night: US$25- $500

There are hostels around the university areas, and they are littered across the city centre. The ones closer to all of the major tourists regions - meaning the harbour area - cost at least $30 per night; however, you can find a cheaper hostel a bit further out for around $20 - $25 per night. Hotels start at around $100 per night. These hotels are quite nice; they usually come standard with a breakfast inclusive option. If you really want to go fancy, you'll need no more than $250 to live in luxury. If you want a room at the Ritz Carlton, however, be prepared to spend closer to $500 per night.

CostsBeerBottle Beer in a grocery shop: US$3 - $5

Local beers are the way to go in Sydney, as alcohol an get expensive really quickly. All of the imported liquor is subject to hefty taxes, making the local beers attractive. Grocery stores also vary in their price ranges, so pick your shopping destination wisely.

CostsBeerBar Beer in a bar or restaurant: US$6 - $8

Food is already pricy. Add a bit of alcohol to your bill in a bar or restaurant and you can eave paying a small fortune. Before going for a night out, getting a few drinks down at home is a wise move, especially when visiting a nightclub or bar.

CostsMeal Meal in a restaurant: US$5 - $40

There is no getting around the fact that food is expensive The high cost of labour mixed with a relatively exorbitant tax rate has caused the average price of budget meals to rise. This can hurt a lot for expats, especially when the AU dollar is valued highly. The Australian Big Mac is nearly $5 - more expensive than the USA.

Accommodation

There is nothing wrong with giving the Couchsurfing app a try. You will find a few places in the city, but the real gem is having someone to show you around. Introductions are golden. If you can, try and get someone who lives in a student area. These places, which are close to the university, are always busy.

Bondi Beach is a great location if you are hedging on the vacation-type lifestyle. There are a few holiday homes which you can rent on Airbnb, and the beach itself is always packed with potential. You could also grab a 5-star hotel for around $200 per night (including breakfast). From there, you have a great base from which to visit the beach during the day and a few clubs in the CBD.

The CBD is also a good option, but you are placing most of your pulling chances firmly in the hands of the nightlife. It is still a viable strategy, as you should have all of the clubs available to you through an Uber ride under $10. Also, if you do pull, the distance to your hotel or hostel is only a short ride away. Hotels are fairly inexpensive in Sydney, so you can get away with spending $150 for a 4- or 5-star hotel. Alternatively, you can book a decent hostel for around $30.

Kings Cross is another great location from which to explore Sydney. On recent times, it has undergone a youth influx, which means more young people and greater contemporary influences. This translates into more student-aged girls and a greater nightlife atmosphere. With plenty of gaming options available, Kings Cross also offers slightly cheaper accommodation - around $100 for a decent hotel.

Downtown Sydney also has most of the fun night activities. Crime is slightly more rampant in these parts, but it is nothing that should be concerning. The quintessence of city crime is petty pickpocketing, which unsuspecting tourists are the primary victims of.

Surry Hills is a quiet, suburban area. It may not seem like the ideal place to find a hookup at first glance, but the geography makes it a more than ideal location. Firstly, Surrey is located just 1km from the city centre. Second, it is also close to most of the major transport hub, such as the central station and a few major bus terminals. Furthermore, Surry Hills s home to the city’s best and busiest bars. The people are outgoing and friendly, and there are lots of girls in the mix!

By car: Uber and Taxify are the main ride-sharing platforms in the country. Uber is the more reputable brand out of the two - and it has a few safety features which put it a notch above Taxify. However, Taxify is around 20% cheaper. It is safe enough and there are usually enough drivers around.

Traditional taxis are also available. You can interact with them from the side of the road or from a taxi rank in a central location. Some of the taxi are operated through a website or app, but if you are going down that route, it is unlikely that they are cheaper than Uber or Taxify.

By train: The metro system is fully functional. Again, you will have to get a smart card, which is obtained through most bus stations. You can go anywhere between suburbs, beaches and even neighbouring cities in an extremely efficient fashion. When used in conjunction with a bus, there is no need for a car.

Sydney Metro

By boat: Ferries are actually fairly common. They leave all of the major harbours and travel to all of the other harbour stops throughout the city. It is a systematic marvel, and it operates in a similar fashion to the trains and busses. Again, your smart card can be used, so always keep it on hand.

Visas: Visas can be applied for online, but they are only available for persons who have citizenship in the EU, the UK and North America. Every other country has to apply for a regular visa at the local representative in their country. There have been recent exemptions for South Africa due to a political move in Australia, but check with the local Australian authorities to be certain. Working visas are closely guarded. You will have to climb a massive administrative mountain to get one.

Digital Nomads and Remote Work

Sydney is one of the economic capitals of the country. Unfortunately, much of the work has already been taken by the mass influx of Asian immigrants over the last decade. Living expenses can be quite exorbitant. a can of coke, for example, can go for $6. It depends on what you purchase and the type of lifestyle you wish to live. However, the sum of the economy is that you do require a fairly advanced job to survive.

Restaurants provide the best odds for low-end positions, as a waiter can earn a substantial amount in tips. You can approach many of the restaurants around the beach front or malls. You want to pick one that has lots of customers flowing through, but also one that has a mid-market menu. Fast food joints are unlikely to pay much and chains have low tip rates. Sushi restaurants are great, so too are Italian joints.

The sports industry is also booming. You can try your luck as a cricket, rugby, hockey, golf, tennis or squash coach. Australia is a proud sporting nation, and many of the schools and clubs have vacancies. There is always a need for someone to coach juniors. However, the problem is that you are unlikely to get a working visa for such a role. If you do have a visa, it's definitely a viable option. Some schools will offer free boarding, too.

Professionals will find Sydney to be a thriving environment. There is lots to do - from banking to medicine and law. Sydney also has a need for more highly-skilled workers, which means that a working visa is easier to come by if you have all of the fancy qualifications behind your name. A few companies may even pay for your working visa.

In summary, it is best to have saved up before going on vacation to Australia. The expensive living costs coupled with the shortage of well-paying lower-end jobs makes the city a difficult place to survive otherwise. If you can earn US dollars, Euros or Pounds, it makes things even easier.

Internet and Mobile Operators

Australia resembles a first-world economy in almost every way. As a result, they enjoy many of the same technological benefits as the rest of the world. Cellular connection, unless you are deep into the outback, is always superb. Moreover, due to the competition in the market, the data plans are affordable. Choose from a few of the following mobile carriers for the best service:

Vodafone - The giant within the Australian mobile service industry. This carrier made its mark in the UK, where it dominated the market through exceptional infrastructure, reliable reception and years of extraordinary market share. The same principles have been applied in Australia. The only downside is that you may find other carriers to be cheaper.

Virgin Mobile - Another favourite that stems from its British dominance. Virgin Mobile is a great choice for short-term deals; however, they have had a reputation for a intermittent loss in signal in the past. Everything seems to be good now, though.

Boost - Another alternative to the market dominators. Boost offers a variety of packages designed to provide customers with a more tailor-made service. They target younger clients, so that automatically comes with a cheaper price. However, their main profit strategy relies on selling phone contracts instead of once-off sim packages.

Vaya - If Australia is your only destination, Vaya is a superb option. A domestic company that has soared in popularity over the last few years, Vaya's claim to fame is providing sim-only packages which are extremely cheap. Thus, travellers could take advantage of this, as they have really economical data and airtime packages.

You can grab a sim card at any grocery, department or cellular store. The best place to buy a sim card is probably at the airport as soon as you land. It just makes things easier, and all of the options will be available from there.

Gambling and Casinos

The gambling industry in Sydney is quite large, and the country enjoys betting and games which are innovative in nature. For example, Sydney has one of the world's first cryptocurrency-based casino: the Bitcoin Gambling Casino - where crypto enthusiasts can play for virtual currencies instead of normal cash.

If more mainstream gambling is your thing and you just want to pull a few slots or play a game of poker, then you can try

  • The Star
The Star
  • Pokies

These are two of the more popular casinos in the city. Casinos are also not subject to the city's curfew, so you can enjoy alcohol until early hours of the morning.

The gambling laws are fairly liberal. You should be good, provided all bets are placed within the confines of a registered organization. Gambling with an organization that operates outside of the State's guidelines is asking for trouble. You probably won't get a secure return on your money, anyway.

Weed and Drugs

The main drug laws were instituted in 1985. Thus, the entire state of New South Wales has not seen any of the more liberal amendments such as the legalization of Marijuana - whether for medicinal or recreational use. All of the other mainstream recreational drugs are also illegal. Thus, Speed, Ecstasy, Acid, Meth, Heroine, Magic Mushrooms, LSD and more are prohibited by law. The penalties are quite severe, and possession could get you deported immediately - plus a fine and some jail time.

With that being said, there are ways to get your hands on drugs if you really want to. Street sellers are located in Kings Cross, but you won't get the best quality through them. You could also find someone in a club or in the clubbing vicinities late at night, but the same level of quality is to be expected.

The better weed comes from a contact who offer "delivery services". They charge around $15 per gram, but it is definitely worth getting better quality. Once you find a contact - which can be done by speaking to a friend - simply arrange a location to meet. The most common form of weed is hydro, but bush weed is also common.

You can purchase party drugs from these dealers, too. If they don't have, they will know someone who does. Stay clear of the harder stuff such as meth and heroine, as they are usually controlled by more sinister organized crime lords, but for things like speed and acid, weed dealers are an acceptable source.

Health, Fitness, Gyms and Massage

The health and fitness industry in Sydney is a fairly large one. Not only is the diet fairly pure, as most of the foods are home-grown due to a thriving agriculture sector, but the city of Sydney is also home to a few spectacular beaches. This results in many of the people flaunting their beach bodies come the weekend or bank holidays. Thus, there are many fit girls to engage with - whether at the gym or at the beach.

The best gyms are listed as per the following:

Virgin Active - A great gym for anyone. Virgin active is one of the better fitness chains in the country. It has everything you need: weights, cardio equipment and a few machines to bring everything together. However, the people really make this gym special. There are many fitness girls to talk to, as the many premium attractions such as saunas, tennis courts, kids care centres and pools attract people from all over the neighbourhood. It becomes more like a central hub - well worth the $60 monthly fee.

Fitness First - Another popular gym chain which takes into account the various needs of the Australian market and provides a fitness service that suits most people. They offer a weight section, lots of interesting classes, saunas, massages and cardio equipment. You should expect quite a few serious gym goers and a few girls, too. There is also a good pre-paid option for visitors, so you don't need to sign your life away for a workout.

Bondi Park Gym - Bondi beach is an iconic destination that attracts lots of tourists and locals each week. Located just a few metres from the shore, a park gym also hosts quite a few fitness enthusiasts every day. It is a great place to grab a workout while on the lookout for girls, especially on the weekend when Bondi Beach is at its busiest. Expect lots of girls in bikinis and a few friendly faces who are more than happy to chat with a foreigner. If you are looking to get laid in Sydney, this is a very strategic location, especially if you are well built and you can use your muscular physique to your advantage.

There are also a few boutique gyms in Sydney. These gyms are targeted at a particular market; for example, crossfit enthusiasts, yogis and people who love the alternative fitness vibe. As a result, there are quite a few options if you walk around the city centre. Once inside any gym, you have to realize that it is a good opportunity to meet girls. Start a conversation. It is not too difficult to get a girl's number if you ask, and going on a coffee or smoothie date at a café or juice bar close by is not difficult either.

STDs and HIV

Australia has one of the world's best medical systems, which means that the rates of STDs are kept under control - to a certain extent. There are only 1000 cases of HIV reported every year, and most of the people go through regular check-ups. With that being said, Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea are also present, with the rates much higher among indigenous Australians.

As with any country, ensure that you use a condom before having sex. This avoids both STDs and unwanted pregnancies. If you have to visit a clinic in the event of an emergency - perhaps too much alcohol or a broken condom, you can try one of the many health centres throughout the city. Sydney has lots of clinics who specialize in sexual health. Get tested as soon as possible. The check-up is not expensive, but it is not free to tourists.

Stay Safe

Sydney has some of the violent crime issues that plague major cities, however, in general, no special precautions are required visiting the typical tourist areas during the day.

Most assaults in Sydney take place in or near pubs and nightclubs at night, and involve alcohol. Most involve young males as perpetrators and victims. Most robberies occur in nearby quiet laneways, or parks close to pubs and nightclubs at night. The most common perpetrators or robberies are drug addicts. For this reason, take care around Kings Cross, The Rocks, Oxford St, and in George St between Town Hall and Central Station, especially late at night on Fridays and Saturday nights. Avoid Redfern station late at night. Even changing trains late at night is best done at Central rather than Redfern. Women should take extra care at bars and keep an alert companion at hand, especially in the central hostel area, and take precautions against spiked drinks.
