Swinger Clubs and Naturism

Some cheaper rental apartments have problems with water as well. With that being said, it’s for the best that you ask around about the place before booking, and confirm it has all that you need.

How to Get There and Move Around

By air:

Montenegro has only two international airports. One in the capital Podgorica, and the other one near a seaside town Tivat. From each airport to Budva you could take either a taxi or a bus which wait for passengers around the airport. Or if you are renting an apartment, you can always ask your landlord to come pick you up.

By bus:

Montenegro is a small country and that allows it to be very connected. Budva being the center of Montenegro tourism, it is easily connected with the other town within the country, and major cities in other countries. There will always be buses going to or through it from any location. The main bus station is around 20-minute walk from the Old Town.

By car:

Travelling by car is easy, but unfortunately costs the most. Gas prices in Montenegro are not low, a single liter can cost around $1.4. Some roads are also poor quality with holes in them. While in Budva, you should use your car only when you have to. The traffic can be terrible during the summer season, and parking spots are almost impossible to find. If you do find any, they can be very expensive.

There is an abundance of taxis in Budva but they are not cheap. A ride to almost any location can cost you around $6 but prices vary and depend on which taxi company you get. Taxi drivers are known to lie to tourists about the price of rides and locations, and charge more than they should. To avoid getting ripped off, when you get into one, make sure the rate card and the taxi meter are visible.

By train:

Unfortunately there are no trains to Budva. The longest line Montenegro has would be from Belgrade, Serbia to Montenegro’s seaside town Bar. Bar to Budva is an easy trip by taxi or bus.

By boat:

There are many tourist boats that dock in Budva harbor. They will take you on a one-day trip to Budvas islands, beaches or other seaside towns in Montenegro. Keep in mind that these are expensive.

Visas:

When it comes to tourist visas, most countries do not need one at all. As long as you have a valid passport, you can stay for up to 90 days. If you are from a country does that does require a visa, it is easy to acquire, and the process is simple.

Digital Nomads and Remote Work

Unfortunately, being a digital nomad is hard in Montenegro. Online income is not taxed and while you can use a provider like PayPal, you cannot receive money with Montenegro’s credit card. You would need an international one, or a different method of money transfer that does not include a bank.

If you can ,however, work remotely while in Budva, you can afford a high standard of living. Average monthly pay in Montenegro is around $400 and as everything is cheaper, with your remote job you would have more than enough for a good place to stay, shopping and going out.

If you planned to work in Budva while living in it, you shouldn't, as the pay is low, and it would be harder to afford everything. It would be hard to find a job even if you wanted to. Budva is already filled with workers from all over the region and many of those are doing two jobs as well.

Internet and Mobile Operators

There are working 3 operators in Montenegro: T-Mobile, M:tel and Telenor. T-Mobile stands out with their best internet plans and fast connection, while other two providers offer unlimited connection with lower internet speed. Data prices are low so almost everyone in Montenegro has mobile data. This raises your chances at chatting with a girl on Facebook or Instagram where they are most active. It is easy for you to get a SIM card in Montenegro, they are even sold at the small bus stop shops.

Gambling and Casinos

Gambling is very popular in Montenegro and if you are above the age of 18, everything is open for you.

The most popular way of gambling is betting on sport results. You can find sport casinos pretty much anywhere in the town.

If you are more into traditional gambling, there are 2 casinos you should visit. First and largest one is casino Avala that has over 100 game machines and over 20 table games. While you are taking a moment to breathe from gambling, or to celebrate your win, you can do so at their fancy restaurant. The second largest casino would be Splendid that’s also a part of a hotel with more than 300 rooms.

Weed and Drugs

Legality: Both weed and drugs are still illegal in Montenegro. Weed is a specific case, kind of an open secret and many cops turn a blind eye to it. There are very few dogs trained for finding it too, so unless you are being obvious, you can go unnoticed. This does not mean you should try crossing the border with weed on you.

Price:

  • Gram of weed: $10
  • Gram of coke: $80-$100
  • Ecstasy: $10-$15
  • LSD: $15-$20

Where: All drugs in Montenegro are cheap and high quality as Albania and Italy are big drug exporters and are located nearby. It is highly suggested you do not try to buy them yourself. Since you are a tourist, dealers might try giving you low quality for a higher price. You’re better off asking a random person where you can buy some and chances are high they know who to contact. It’s that easy, people are very open about it. Local slang for weed is "Trava" (Thra-wah) or "Vutra" (Wu-trah).

Health, Fitness, Gyms and Massage

Staying fit and healthy in Budva is easy. Both food and gym are cheap. Monthly gym membership, going 3 days a week, costs $10-$30, depending on the gym. Each is special in its own way and offers something else.

If you prefer outdoor training, there are many parks for body weight exercises that anyone can use for free. There are many public football and basketball fields as well, as these are the two most popular sports in the country. If you have no one to play with, you can ask the guys that are already there, they will be happy to meet and play with someone new.

STDs and HIV

As mentioned, hook up culture is not a thing in Montenegro yet. There is a good side to that, STDs in Montenegro are barely present. As information gets around fast, even if someone does have it, everyone would know. You would find out on time.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear protection! You can buy condoms anywhere, from small shops by bus stop to pharmacies. Montenegro wants you to be safe.

Stay Safe

There are rumors about criminal groups in Budva and sadly it ruins its beautiful reputation. There are some bad people coming to Budva in summer, but if they do anything, it’s within their own or with some other organization. Nothing to do with public, Budvas citizens or tourists and no one will know about it.

Any crime that is illegal in the west is illegal in Montenegro as well. But physical violence stands out. Society turns a blind eye to it and fist fighting is quite common. Unless it results in a serious injury, it is not seen as a crime. In Budva, especially in summer in front of other girls, barely anyone will allow any sign of disrespect, even if it’s obvious sarcasm. Try to avoid any confrontation, and if you think you cannot, it is better to move your fun somewhere else.
