Make sure you study the area well and that you are aware of any crime risk which could be present. Moreover, rugby games are almost always a favourite with local girls, so getting your hand on these tickets is a good excuse to ask a girl out. Cricket is also a popular sport. However, these games are long, but they can be fun. Usually, there is live music, plenty of alcohol and local food on sale. If you run out of ideas, a simple coffee date will suffice for an initial outing. Because Johannesburg is considered dangerous at times, avoid outdoor dates at night unless you are 100% certain of the security in the area.

Internet dating Apps also help to bridge the gap between travellers and locals. Get to know her online through Tinder, Bumble or even Instagram. Chat about good places to go and what to do for a date. Chances are, she'll have a favourite spot, as Johannesburg is a large city with plenty to do.

  • Bumble - an App which allows females to select their desired partners - is also a common platform in Johannesburg. Although not as popular as Tinder, a match on this site is more likely to end in getting laid. However, one does have to relinquish some of the choice in the matter, but due to the crime rate in South Africa as a whole, girls often feel more secure with such an interface. Getting on Bumble is a worthwhile venture.

Sex workers are not really a feature of the online dating scene; however, they do pop up from time to time. Less than 1% of all online dating interactions will be include a sex worker. What Kind of Guys Have the Best Chances

Johannesburg is the business capital of South Africa. As a result, wealth plays an important role in the eyes of certain girls. To others, it is not as important; these girls may actually be from really wealthy families, meaning their attraction is based on different criteria. As a general rule of thumb, when it comes to money, guys are expected to pay for drinks, bills and most other romantically-related expenses. This is just a reflection of the values of the culture, so have these factors sorted and you're good to go. Avoid looking tattered, but your style can be your own. In a city where crime is at large, poorly dressed people are viewed with suspicion - it's not easy getting a girl's number if she thinks you may steal her purse!

As the city is so diverse, race is not really a deciding factor. Girls of all types and ethnicities are present, so mingling with as many girls as possible is the best way to go. However, do note that certain older women may carry certain preferences for men of a lighter skin colour. South Africa is infamous for its historical racial divide known as Apartheid. Thus, older women may not always be too keen on black men.

South Africa is a proud sporting nation and much time is spent outdoors. Therefore, fitness is a huge part of most girl's attraction ratings. Guys with a decent, muscular build fare better as a result, especially in the gym and at outdoor events. Younger girls of the student age are often on the lookout for muscular men to have some fun with.

Risks while Gaming

Johannesburg has a similar culture to any other Western city. However, due to the extremely high gap between rich and poor, there are a few things to watch out for.

Ensure that the girl you are with is not after your money. While gold diggers are some people's thing, a thief is almost certainly not. Beware of scams where a girl will look to distract you in order to allow her associates to steal your wallet/valuables. This is common in Johannesburg and parents will sometimes even use their children to steal wallets, watches and cell phones. There are also different styles of crime depending on certain cultures.

STDs are also an issue, particularly amongst girls from poorer areas. A general guide to education levels and wealth is English ability. If a girl displays low levels of English, she is probably from a poorer area, as her parents could not afford proper schooling. These girls are more likely to be involved in crime and/or have boyfriends connected to gangs.

By the same token, wrap it up before engaging in any sexual activity. This is wise no matter the region, so be careful and don't trust any girl who is willing to have unprotected sex. Beware of girls wilfully looking to get pregnant to benefit from state welfare structures. Remember, HIV is rampant, so be extra careful even when using a condom.

Fights are infrequent, but men in Johannesburg position themselves as extremely territorial, so avoid getting into a situation where a boyfriend is watching you hit on his girl. Other than that, your experience should be trouble free.

How to Get Laid as Soon as Possible

If you're looking to get laid, then getting online and meeting new girls is your best option. This is often a great way to break the ice, especially in Johannesburg where trust on the street is difficult to gain. Therefore, switching to a digital conversation allows girls the opportunity to get to know you without worrying about whether you are a criminal.

From there, offer to take her out on a physical date. Consider some of the options listed on this page, such as coffee, a picnic in designated garden areas, a dinner or lunch, etc. The list is endless and one of the benefits of online communication is she can suggest new spots for you to visit. Engage in conversation, get to know her a bit and you may be on your way to having sex.

Importantly, a gesture of appreciation is important in the South African culture. Buying her chocolates or flowers is often appreciated and it may set you apart from the rest of her contact list. Remember: if she matched with you, she probably matched with a few more.

Gold Diggers and Sugar Babies

Johannesburg is full of hot girls looking for a mutually beneficial hookup with travellers. There are lots of girls who don’t charge by the hour but who will do anything for a guy who is willing to help them pay their bills. If you are looking for a more personal and less transactional alternative to escorts, a good place to find these sexy open-minded girls in Johannesburg is SecretBenefits.

Johannesburg is the financial capital of South Africa. As a result, there are many wealthy people. If you happen to be someone looking for a gold digger, this does place you at a disadvantage, as the levels of income means that as there are many such people around - especially older gentleman looking for a sugar baby from time to time.

However, there is still hope! The streets are probably not the best place to find a gold digger or sugar baby, as the crime rate will always have suspicions on a high. As a result, malls and other such indoor venues (perhaps a bar or club) are great places to find a young girl looking for a bit of cash. Offer to take her out shopping, to dinner, or perhaps a cruise through a well-to-do area.

Johannesburg, like any city, has a minority of prostitutes who may look to use you as a means to increase their earnings for a few days. Be careful as prostitution is illegal. You can easily discern between a prostitute and a normal girl by the type of clothing she is wearing. South African girls have a more conservative dress code, so spotting prostitutes is relatively simple. Also, the sex workers stick primarily to the roadside in certain areas, such as main roads.

Theft is also rampant. Be on the lookout for illegal activity and make sure you don't become a victim. Well-dressed persons are likely to become a target, and certain girls are desperate enough to chat to you in the hope of getting a chance of grabbing your wallet and/or phone. Don't let her lead you to a strange place late at night, because she may have male companions who are waiting to pounce. If she suggests moving to a different area, consider asking another person is that region is a safe place. If she mentions going to a district like Soweto, chances are you're being set up for a crime.

Sites such as www.swinglifestyle.com provide you with a platform to meet hundreds of swingers within the Johannesburg area.

Once that has been completed, you will be allowed entrance. Newcomers are given an induction tour and all the rules are clearly explained.

Strip clubs are also available in Johannesburg. Teazers is a well-known chain of clubs that operate throughout the city. Here you will find a range of South African girls who offer their services for a fee. Note that prostitution is illegal; however, touching in the club is sometimes allowed depending on the rules of the institution. The Penthouse is another "Gentleman's Club" in the city centre. This, along with the Lollipop Lounge, provides two unique locations to spend some cash for some adult fun.

Costs of Living

For travellers coming from Europe or North America, costs are relatively cheap. Alcohol, in particular, is easier on the budget than in most countries. Food costs are average, with the average person spending around $300 on food-related groceries every month. A Big Mac costs $2 and the average restaurant meal ranges between $5 and $7.

CostsDay Single traveler’s budget per day: US$60 - $600

CostsAccommodation Accommodation per night: US$30 - $400

If you are willing to spend a bit more, renting an Airbnb is a viable alternative; on the site, you will be able to choose between a variety of accommodation options. These include apartments, residential housing and holiday villas.

Hotels in the City Centre are costly, but they offer a great experience and an even better location. The Sun City Resort, for example, offers guests a magical stay at the most popular tourist attraction in Johannesburg. Other than that, houses along luxury region of Sandton offer guests magnificent views and luxury. Prices usually start at around $100 and can go up to a maximum of $700 per night.

CostsBeerBottle Beer in a grocery shop: US$1 - $3

South African Breweries is one of the largest alcohol producers in the world, supplying many nations with their favourite liquors. Having access to the domestic market is a plus for any visitor, as alcoholic beverages are usually cheap.

Top Tip: for travellers on a tight budget, purchase alcohol at the local supermarket before going out. costs almost always quadruple at restaurants or bars.

CostsBeerBar Beer in a bar or restaurant: US$2 - $4

Restaurant culture in South Africa is a well-cultured industry. With famous wines and many different strains of beer, alcohol prices can vary dramatically depending on what you buy. For those on a strict spending plan, stick to the mainstream brands. If you are looking to splash out a bit more, craft beers are worth a try.

CostsMeal Meal in a restaurant: US$5 - $30

The fast food industry is like any other place on the planet: you pretty much get whatever you want - burgers, French fries, fried chicken, Chinese, etc. Johannesburg, however, has a rich history told in local cuisine and international food. Because the city is home to so many different cultures, there are countless flavours to enjoy. Traditional cuisine is unique, flavourful packed with spices and is highly meat-orientated. Such restaurants are found in City Centre districts, rural areas and in malls. Indian food is also available, due to the region's proximity to Durban (the second highest Indian population outside of India). Try a "bunny chow" or look for a hearty curry or naan. Sushi has also become a mainstay of pop culture. The best place is probably at Centurion mall, where you will find a range of sushi chefs to satisfy the biggest of appetites.

Accommodation

Accommodation is a crucial part of the Johannesburg experience. Choose the wrong area and you could be a victim of theft and other crimes. Select the right one you develop good memories that last a lifetime.

Couch surfing is unlikely in South Africa in general, because of a high crime rate and a general distrust of people that are unknown. Thus, a hook-up is likely to be a once-off affair unless you really strike a connection with a girl and get to know each other very quickly.

Airbnb is a viable option along with sites like Gumtree and OLX for short-term stays. There are many residential areas within the city, but stick to the North West suburbs as a rule of thumb. These are safer, more pleasant to live in and a better option for anyone who does not know the area. Once you become accustomed to the city, you may wish to relocate. This is best for a daygame approach.

Student areas close to the University of Johannesburg are also viable options; however, the student housing market is known for its high fees, making getting an apartment in the area and expensive stay. This is the perfect location for a nightgame-based pickup strategy. It places you close to the clubs and asking girls back to your apartment is easy.

For those who have a larger budget, the inner city of Sandton offers a great way to see Johannesburg. Sandton is safe, so safe that you can walk around at night - unheard of in almost all of Africa. It is the heart of the financial district and apartments are extremely expensive. The clubbing experience is next level and transport is easy. The area of Sandton also offers sublime hotels that are extremely comfortable and luxurious.

If you are looking for more of a vocational feel, the Hilton and Sun City are world-class hotels that all international guests enjoy. Although a room is a bit pricy - around $100 and up per night - the experience is definitely worthwhile. It offers amazing golf, tennis, water sports and parks, amusement parks and adult entertainment. Moreover, these hotels strike the perfect balance between day and night game.

How to Get There and Move Around

Travelling in Johannesburg can be tough at times. The infrastructure is good in most areas, but factors like traffic are usually taxing at certain times. However, there are plenty of options available, and the choice between these would largely depend on the budget of the traveller. Expenses can also rack up - often hidden ones like government charges on crossing certain boundaries add up to many a dollar if you are not careful.

By air: The city boasts a state-of-the-art airport, which was subject to major renovations prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup. As a result, visitors will find getting to the area easy and straightforward, with some major airports offering direct flights to O.R. Tambo International Airport. It offers a huge shopping section and visitors with a bit extra to spend can make use of private lounges with buffets and personal attendants.

Helicopter tours are also not uncommon; however, these are reserved for special occasions and come at a hefty fee. They provide a scenic trip throughout the city, a unique vantage point that not many have the luxury of experiencing. They can also be a way for wealthier individuals to escape hectic morning traffic. Consider this as a move to really impress a girl of your budget allows it.

By bus: Various bus systems run in different sectors of the city. In the main business district, a well-structured bus system runs through the heart of the city. The cost is usually around US$2. As one heads into the suburbs, a different bus service provides a less comfortable, but cheaper, means of transport - around US$1 a trip.

By car: Car rental outlets are littered throughout the city, but hiring a vehicle has gone out of fashion due to the costly prices and the added burden of extremely high fuel prices. Instead, most visitors - and locals - rely on App-related transport such as Uber and Taxify. Having these two Apps pre-loaded on one's phone is a must. Expect to spend around US$1 per kilometer.

By train: The Gautrain is run by a private company that also constructs and maintains subways in many major cities across the globe. Thus, persons who are used to the American Subway or the London Tube will find it somewhat familiar. The Gautrain, however, is quite a bit more expensive than conventional trains, but it is safe, efficient and fast.

Gautrain station at O.R. Tambo Airport

Conventional trains operate throughout the city, although they are archaic, poorly run and unsafe at night. Despite this, they offer a quick and cheap mode of transport, which is worth the trip during the day. Expect to spend less than US$1 per trip, depending on your area.

By boat: Johannesburg is an inland city, meaning that boats and water-based transportation is definitely off the table.

Visas: The requirement for visas is dependant on your country of residence. South Africa is set to introduce the online visa in 2019, which means persons may simply apply via the internet instead of a physical location. Moreover, certain countries are allowed access for 30 days and others 90. Check the official South African Diplomatic Department of Missions for further information.

Digital Nomads and Remote Work

Johannesburg is filled with potential for work. However, prices of food and property often require one to have a more traditional income stream instead of relying on digital sources like Freelancing and such. If you are interested in finding a job within the city itself, restaurants are a good option for anyone with a high school qualification.

However, the city is most suited to professionals. Lawyers, doctors, bankers and accountants will find Johannesburg a haven for applying trade in some kind of part-time or consultancy basis. South African firms almost always welcome the input of experienced individuals from more developed nations, so first world applicants are more than likely to get a job.

It is important to stay on the right side of the law. Make sure that all your papers are in order before you start working. The country has an unemployment rate of almost 34%, so any action that is viewed as 'job-stealing' will be reported by someone who finds out. This is likely to cost you a fine and get you banned from the country for a set period of 5 years.

Internet and Mobile Operators

Internet is commonly available and some areas have public Wi-Fi. Avoid conventional SMS services at all costs, as these are tremendously expensive. Also, government services providers are considered incompetent; thus, a company like Telkom will offer a cheap service, but the actual value to the customer is next to nothing. Rather stick with well-trusted companies. Use what everyone else uses.

Always have a large store of mobile data, as being disconnected from people of trust is a weakness which criminals target upon. Sim cards and data are easily bought at a local supermarket, and there are a number of network providers to choose from: Vodacom, Cell C and MTN are generally considered the most trustworthy. Once you have bought a Sim, you will be able to purchase data using your bank account or simply preload the account at the point of purchase.

You will need a substantial amount of mobile data within South Africa. If you are looking for reliability, Vodacom is probably your best bet. Once in a hotel or accommodation, WIFI should be present. However, a certain amount of backup data is needed in case of emergencies. Being stranded in Johannesburg is a dangerous situation.

Gambling and Casinos

Gambling is legal in South Africa, so if you are looking for a quick game to try your luck at getting easy money, there are a few ways to go about it. Gambling is legal for any person above the age of 18; however, certain casinos may require you to be 21 at their own discretion.

For the ultimate gambling experience, try visiting Sun City. This is the most popular gambling destination in South Africa and the apex of the industry. The location boasts a 5-star hotel, water park for visitors to enjoy and a world-class golf course that features on the Race to Dubai calendar.

The casino is large and caters to every type of game you are looking to play; it ranges from sports betting to traditional casino games. If you are looking to splash some cash, Sun City is a good destination. It also offers a place to hook-up with wealthy locals and exotic foreigners. Security is pretty good, so you don't need to worry about petty crime.

If you are looking for a convenient place to gamble away a few dollars, the city is home to a few lesser gambling locations. More often than not, there will be a poker game at a bar; however, most of these will be illegally run. Lookout for casinos in hotels and holiday destinations.

Weed and Drugs

Drugs are easily found in South Africa. However, getting access to them is a different story. Johannesburg, in particular, is a place in which getting involved with the wrong crowd can cost you your life. In certain areas, showing that you have money results in high jacking, gunpoint mugging and high levels of theft. Drugs are definitely a gateway into the underworld of the city, a place you do not want to be in.

Avoid - at all costs - drugs such as heroine and meth. These are gang-related sales and are likely to come with additional drama.

Weed is legal, but still seen as taboo. Legalization was a highly controversial process that was only concluded in August 2018. However, if weed is your thing, it is commonly and safely available in many types and strains. Party drugs are also big in the nightclub scene. Finding a dealer for MDMA, Ecstasy and cocaine is not difficult. Look out for inconspicuous guys passing by on the street. Once you make eye contact, they'll be more than happy to engage in a transaction.

Some people are also addicted to Over-the-Counter drugs. These are usually painkillers and the like, but the experience is considered weird in the extreme.

Health, Fitness, Gyms and Massage

Gyms are a big part of South African culture, as the nation finds a lot of solidarity around sport, health and fitness. As a result the gym culture is a massive one, especially for younger generations. This means gyms are often filled with students, young professionals and young parents. There is also an opportunity to meet attractive younger girls and slightly mature women in their 30s and 40s.

For a budget option, try Zone Fitness. This is a relatively new chain that was started in South Africa around ten years ago. It features standard fitness equipment, including a weight section, cardio equipment, multi-purpose areas and saunas.

Virgin Active is the gym of choice in South Africa. Although slightly more expensive, this often acts as a central hub within areas. Therefore, it is the perfect place to meet girls and catch a good workout. If sports is your thing, Virgin Active will offer tennis, squash and swimming.

Massages are available at spas. These are located at hotels most of the time, but individual practices are sometimes opened. Try the Hilton in Sandton or Sun City for the best massages. They offer qualified masseuses and masseurs and aroma therapy sections.

STDs and HIV

STDs are present in all countries, and Johannesburg is no different. If you are hooking up with a girl, it is important to that you have a clear exchange of conversation about the topic. This can include her preferences on using protection, which types to use and STDs in general.

Condoms are free if you use governmentally provided ones. These are available at public libraries, train stations, and state-funded clinics and hospitals. However, if you can afford it, most convenience stores at petrol stations stock branded condoms. These are better quality and provide you with a much safer and more enjoyable sexual experience. Stick with international brand such as Durex.

HIV is rampant throughout Africa. Lack of employment, high poverty rates and a low education level in some areas has led to a mass ignorance of the disease. Locations such as Soweto house a high risk of HIV infection. Always speak to a local whom you can trust about the general areas which are risky when it comes to HIV. Even though you may use a condom, HIV is probably best stayed clear of.

Stay Safe

Johannesburg has high crime levels, though tourists are seldom victims. Like many other cities with a crime problem, some places are quite safe while others can be quite dangerous, and, in some places, crime may depend on whether it is day or night. Armed security guards (not necessarily the police) are a common sight in the city. Ask local people (hotel staff, police) what to do.

Johannesburg earned its lawless reputation during the 1980s when the apartheid regime was collapsing. However the reader should note the following: the inevitable rule of the majority over South Africa did not lead to Johannesburgs lawlessness. Rather most non-black (white) South Africans and Business (majority white owned) fell victim to the dying Apartheid Regimes “swart-gevaar” or “black-terror” propaganda (I.e the black community is dangerous and a problem) resulting in overall disinvestment in the city in particular the CBD. However things have improved enormously since those days with in large part all communities residing peacefully and in unity, although the advice you may receive from some Johannesburg residents may not match today’s reality. Nevertheless you should keep security in mind and tourists must remain alert at all times when in unfamiliar surroundings.
