In the foreground is the Old Town, separated from the New Town by the Medieval Fortifications. From left to right: the Muslim Library, the church of Agios Georgios in front of the gate of same name, the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes. Beyond the walls: in the centre is the hill where the Acropolis of Rhodes is situated; on the right, we have a glimpse of the northern tip of the island, and the Turkish coast at the horizon.
Français : Rhodes, Grèce. Panorama vu depuis le sommet de la tour de l'horloge, couvrant 135° du sud-ouest au nord. La vieille citadelle est au premier plan, séparée de la ville nouvelle par les fortifications. De gauche à droite: la bibliothèque musulmane, l'église d'Agios Georgios devant la porte homonyme, le Palais du Grand Maître des Chevaliers de Rhodes. Au-delà des murailles: au centre se dresse la colline où se situe l'Acropole de Rhodes; à droite l'on aperçoit la pointe nord de l'île, et la côte de la Turquie à l'horizon. |
