Summary

Description

I came across this one in my town one night- it had broken down and all the people on it were crowded all over the road. This is very typical of a 'tro tro' in Ghana, basically minibuses which are the main form of transport in the country. Many of them, like this one still carry the livery of previous European operators- in this one's case, the Netherlands (Elburg)

I've found out this one originally belonged to a landscaping business, judging by the Dutch (Hoveniersbedijf) then Bovendorp and Sellis presumably the company name.

Note the local sticker on the back, "Ye neno sre kha", in a local language, probably Twi. This Toyota Hi-Ace is a 'luxury' tro tro, used on the prestigious long distance routes, mostly centring around the capital, Accra, and branching out to the big cities of the country. The local ones are almost all Hyundai H100s. I rode on these a few times, and they are much nicer and faster than the Hyundais! There was a Hyundai with Korean writing all over it, but unfortunately I didn't catch that one...
